Default Coverups

On one of my other threads we came upon the subject of coverups and i was wondering when it is and isn't expectable to have a tattoo covered up.
What do you lot think?

Well, for starters anytime someone wants a spouse or boy/girl friends name it is a cover-up waiting to happen.

you make a very good point.
But why cover it? Why not just tattoo VOID! over there name.
or having the date you meet on top and the date you split up underneath.
Or Just have R.I.P. depending on how bad the split was. LoL
shorely covering it is a bad idea because she/he must have been important at sometime and tat's are a lasting memory of your life. So why cover?
Is that a good point or am i just being a fool and once you split you just want to forget about that part of your life.

I think everyone is different, but I can say I wouldn't want to crawl into bed with my wife only to see a list of all her ex's every night lmao!!! Then there is the people who get a tattoo just cause they want a tattoo and it has no real meaning, but then years later start a sleeve and the sleeve follows a theme the old tat won't fit into. Definitely time for a cover to keep the flow going in the artwork.

Well can there be a bad reason, or a good reason for everyone's standards? I think it is an individual thing really. We each own our body's and have the right5 to decide what we do with them. If I have a Betty Boop on my thigh but later decide I want to cover it up with an anchor and ribbon that says MOM who's to tell me I can't? Of course I'd never get either of those because to me a tattoo should hold deep meaning to it's wearer and every piece on me has symbolic reference, but some people are not deep thinkers and just want a tattoo, then later wished they had something else instead. For me I can't see covering up any of my tats at this point in my life, but who knows... someday I may change my mind.
